SMILE-Parryware launch Tirumala campaign

The Roots of War

SMILE (Selfless Movement Improving Life Everywhere), a Chennai-based philanthropic organisation associated with Srivari Seva at Tirumala along with Parryware, India’s No. 1 bathroom products manufacturer, has launched the ‘Keep Tirumala Clean and Hygienic’ campaign.

On this important initiative of Parryware, K E Ranganathan, GM, Marketing, Parryware, says, “Parryware, as a true market leader, has been increasingly involved in activities like these in helping our customers realise the importance of ‘hygienic bathroom conditions’ through offering innovative products like stainzfree coating, anti-microbial seat covers and water-saving closets. The Tirumala initiative is in this direction of offering our best services to millions of pilgrims who visit every year. Our approach is also to help save substantial quantity of precious water in an
eco-friendly manner.”

Phase 1 of the campaign

Under Phase 1 of the campaign, Parryware will, over the next two months, inspect
all 5,000 bathrooms at the guest houses in Tirumala and will rectify any defects in taps, closets, basins and pipes.

Simultaneously, Parryware will adjust the cisterns to an optimum level, which will help save at least three litres of water with every use. Parryware expects this to result in a daily saving of about 30 litres in every bathroom (30x5,000 bathrooms = 1.5 lakh litres every day), leading to a saving of 5.4 crore litres of water in Tirumala every year.

On completion of the inspection of all the 5,000 rooms, Parryware will present a report to SMILE with its recommendation for any major renovations and/or replacements that may be required in any of the bathrooms.

Phase II

Phase II of the campaign could include undertaking renovations and replacement as may be required based on the inspection report.

Commenting on the association with Parryware, C N Paramasivan, Chief Co-ordinator, SMILE and Co-ordinator, Srivari Seva Group, said “We have been involved in Blood Donation Camps, Eye Camps, Cleaning of places of worship among other social cause initiatives. This association with Parryware is a significant step in ensuring that the sanitation facilities at the Tirumala will be in excellent condition and all the Bathrooms are clean and hygienic, especially with the number of devotees thronging the Tirumala going up every year. The exercise will also result in saving huge amounts of water, which is a very scarce resource these days.”
