LIFW: Day 2, Show 3

Formal wear for men and women is truly the forte of designer duo Rohit Khanna and Rahul Gandhi’s label ‘Cue’. They work with a repertoire of amazing fabrics and materials ranging from rib knits, metal patinaed leathers, tweeds, sheers, crochets and even chenille yarns.

The palette of colours includes warm Australian siennas, sea turquoises, ocean blues, dark chocolate, black and space age pink and cobalt tints. And what do the designers do with this mind-boggling selection of material? They create a stunningly modern collection that is chic, urban and very stylish as they proved on April 28 at the Lakme India Fashion Week (LIFW) in New Delhi.

The lines range from smart office wear with pant and skirt suits, pencil skirts, constructed shirts, etc., to glam-wear in black with  peacock feather coloured appliqués and embroideries, and moves into the realm of funky club wear with sexy dresses embellished with multi-coloured chenille yarn fringes. Occasionally, a heat set bubbled sheer skirt is teamed with a severe tweed jacket, and a floaty brown chiffon is crafted into a teasing warp-tied blouse. The men’s wear features well-tailored suits, jackets and lean lowers, all classic in their expression yet trendy in their appeal.

Truly, city looks at their best.
