New Model Auditions
Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), the apex industry body representing the fashion design industry in India, conducted the new model auditions for Lakme India Fashion Week 2005 (LIFW 2005) at the Grand, New Delhi, a few days ago. These auditions were co-ordinated for female models and saw a turnout of over 200 aspiring and talented models.
The jury comprised of eminent designers and choreographers including Rohit Gandhi, Nikhil Mehra, Leena Singh, Vijay Arora, Aparna Bahl, Taniya Lefebvre, Asha Kochhar and Vidyun Singh. The results of the new model auditions will be announced shortly by FDCI.
FDCI introduced the concept of new model auditions at LIFW 2003 to provide an opportunity for new and upcoming models to showcase their talent at India’s largest B-2-B fashion event and some of the success stories from previous LIFW new model auditions include Sonalika Sahay, Sharan Mishra, Gauhar Khan, Shonal Rawat, Shivani Sabikhi, Lu Gill, Neha Kapoor, Acquin Pais, Ignetius Camillo and more.
This is in continuation of FDCI’s objective to promote Lakme India Fashion Week as a platform for the overall development of the fashion industry in India, of which modeling forms an integral part.
The largest and most high profile fashion trade event in the country, Lakme India Fashion Week was conceptualized by FDCI and has successfully provided a platform to develop business opportunities for Indian fashion design professionals, and has grown into the most significant annual event for the entire Indian fashion design industry.
