Who said women are not good drivers? Well it's the speeding season and if you have a nice car and the aspiration to rally, be at Hotel Savera July 4 at 9 a.m.. The Duchess Club and the Madras Motors Sports Club, in association with the Indian Oil Corporation,
are organising the ‘All Women Car Rally’ - a women-drivers-only car rally in Chennai for the third consecutive year.
The 100 km rally, based on the time, distance and speed format, will be flagged of from Hotel Savera at 9 a.m. The route for the rally is.... Suspense, says a spokesperson. The entry fee of Rs 500 per team (car, driver and three passengers) will include snacks and competition licence fee.
Registration for the rally can be made at Hotel Savera or by calling Sujata at 98412-88631 / 98401-13025 or Padma at 28114700 ext. 1991. Applicants should have their driver’s licences with them and the car registration certificates.
The winning driver will receive fabulous prizes under different categories like experts, regular, novice and Duchess Club members.
The Duchess Club, sponsored by the Savera group of hotels and launched on January 28, 2002, consists of 300 members from all walks of life who come together with the common goal of learning and sharing.
The Duchess Club is powered by a team of five women, Nina Reddy (executive director, Savera Hotels), Rathi Nilakantan (director, A Cut Above Beauty Studio), Anu Agarwal (Tanjore artiste), Sujatha Mundhra (dress designer) and Anuradha Sachdev (business woman).
The Duchess Club has a motley crew of women aboard - homemakers, teachers, managers and performing artistes. Most members are in the age group of 25 to 50.
