Whether it had something to do with the name of the Maratha warrior or not, Sivaji Ganesan enjoyed the affection of the Lata Mangeshkar family.
Sivaji Ganesan was a special friend for the
Mangeshkars.
In 1993, on behalf of the Dinanath Mangeshkar Pratishthan of Pune, named after Lata Mangeshkar's father Dinanath Mangeshkar, the nightingale of India presented him the 'Dinanath Mangeshkar Puraskar' at a public function.
The award was in recognition of Sivaji's outstanding contribution to the field of art and the cultural tradition of India.
Sivaji never failed to call on the Mangeshkars whenever he visited
Mumbai.
He was a fan of Lata Mangeshkar and her sister Asha Bhosle. (Our Correspondent)
