M R Hubert, director, Shabnam Resources, said, “In order to create an awareness of goodness among children, we conducted the rally.”

Even though the trust has conducted many rallies earlier to propagate awareness about HIV, child abuse and breast cancer, it is conducting a rally for the first time as part of Christmas celebrations.

The neighbourhood children, who participated in the walk, were overjoyed on seeing Santa Claus. He presented chocolates to the passers-by, thereby catching their attention to the rally.

The group, which passed through United India Colony, Arcot Road and Rangarajapuram, was the cynosure of all eyes.

The Christmas celebration did not end here. The children were eagerly looking forward to the next session.

Funskool (India) Ltd, coordinated by Concern India Foundation, offered toys to the children. Funskool and Concern India Foundation collected dolls and informative education-oriented dolls from many city schools and gave them to the children.

Around 800 children received toys including board games, Barbie dolls, video games, piggy banks and animal dolls. The children were indeed very happy to have a doll each for themselves.

The novel project of Funskool and Concern India titled ‘A Toy for Every Child’, “aimed to gift a toy to every needy child in Chennai during the Christmas and New Year season”, said, Neena Rajiv Govindan, branch manager, Teynampet, Concern India Foundation.

R Jeswant, general manager, sales and marketing, Funskool, and Neena Rajiv Govindan distributed the gifts to the children.

Despite the long walk in the morning, the children went home happily to show their Christmas presents to their parents.
