ESPN Star Sports, India's leading sports network, will telecast live the forthcoming hockey Test series between India and Spain. The sports channel has signed Harendra Singh as an expert commentator who will team up with Ravi Kant Singh to take the viewers through the action on the turf. ESPN Star Sports will showcase the entire hockey series in Hindi as a continuation of its efforts towards increasing Hindi presence on its channels.

R C Venkateish, managing director, ESPN Software India Pvt. Ltd, said, "We are looking at strategically increasing hockey content on our networks. Only last month we showcased the Indian leg of India-Pakistan hockey Test series."

"We are committed to the development of hockey in India. We believe that 'Premier Hockey League', which kicks off on January 13, 2005, in years to come, will become one of the most important events in India's sports calendar."

India and Spain play their second Test match on November 30, 2004, at Chandigarh. The India-Spain Test matches in India provide an interesting opportunity to prospect some of the Spanish players for the forthcoming 'Premier Hockey League'.

The Spanish team is visiting India for the first time in eight years. The last time they toured India was in 1996, when they played in the 'Indira Gandhi Gold Cup Hockey Tournament'. The Spanish team is a reigning Olympic semi-finalist and runners-up of the last European Championships held in Barcelona.
