V-KOOl, the world's most technologically
advanced heat control film, made its foray into the Tamil Nadu
market by launching the V-KOOl range of products in Chennai
recently.
V-KOOl films enable maximum amount of
daylight transmittance while selectively cutting off infra-red
rays and ultra-Xtiolet rays preventing sun burns, premature
ageing, eye damage and skin cancer from prolonged driving and
exposure to the sun.
V-KOOl products would be marketed by Trans
Car India Pvt Ltd, for the Tamil Nadu region. It is a
spectrally-selective sputtered metallic film, manufactured by
Southwall Technologies, US and is marketed under the brand name
V-KOOl for automotives and IQue for residential and commercial
buildings, said K S Sahni, chairman and managing director, V-KOOl
Films (India) Pvt Ltd, said in Chennai.
"Like everyone else, I initially thought that
heat rejection of a film depended upon its darkness or the
colour. Once I was introduced to the V-KOOl concept, my mindset
totally changed as I realised that light and heat are totally
separate aspects. V-KOOl is not used only to protect cars from
glaring sunlight, but is now considered important in various
other ways too: V-KOOL reduces infra-red rays by a staggering 94
per cent. This protects users not only from the heat but also
against harmful skin cancer rays, and further, prevents the
fading and degradation of carpets, curtains and upholstery at
homes and offices," he added.
K S M Musaddique, managing director, Trans
Car India Pvt Ltd, said, "We are pleased to announce the tie-up
with V-KOOL, a leading manufacturer of the world's most
technologically advanced heat control film. With V-KOOL as a
partner, we have a great opportunity to support a very important
segment of our customer base. The products are of superior
technology, quality and value for money."
V-KOOl's protective film technology is based
on infra-red, reflecting composites of silver and indium oxide,
which are thinly layered on a transparent thin film. Seven
layers of specialised filtering agents are used in constituting
superior performance films, said Hasneet Sahni, CEO, V - KOOl
Films (India) Pvt Ltd. "When applied to your windows, V-KOOL
forms a virtually transparent barrier that eliminates over 94
per cent of the sun's infra-red rays while allowing up to 70 per
cent of visible light to enter. This means less need for
expensive air-conditioning and electric lighting, making V-KOOL
a great way to help control soaring energy costs."
"V-KOOL TM is applied by highly trained
professional installers and comes with a five year warranty that
guarantees its performance to stated specifications without
fading, discoloration, cracking, peeling, adhesive failure,
delaminating or demetallizing," Sahni added.
V-KOOl was originally developed for America's
Space and Defence programs. It represents an important
breakthrough in surface and particle science. It works through a
patented process known as sputtering, in which tiny particles of
exotic metals are embedded in optically clear, durable polyester
film. V-KOOl uses durable, pressure-sensitive adhesive to adhere
to the glass and, on the other side, has a durable
scratch-resistant coating to ensure a long lasting experience.
Back in 1997, when the concept of an actual
heat control film was non-existent in the Indian market, Kulbir
Singh Sahni launched V- KOOl Heat Control Films in India in
September. V- KOOl Films (India) Pvt. Ltd. was set up after he
gained the exclusive trading rights for the whole of India. It
was a bold decision and what a decision it turned out to be!
