MMA students convention

The 5th MMA All India Management Students Convention with the theme: 'Beyond Quality: Breakthrough Innovation' was held in Chennai on September 8 and 9, 2006, at the Chinmaya Heritage Centre, Harrington Road, Chetput, Chennai.

This is a unique, annual convention for management students, attracting more than 800 delegates consisting mostly of management students, faculty of colleges and corporate participants. 

The theme for the convention this year was 'Beyond Quality: Breakthrough Innovation'.

The convention offered students an opportunity to learn from corporate gurus and at the same time provided them a platform to showcase their managerial acumen through paper presentations and business proposals on any commercially viable business ideas of their choice. The paper presentations were on the following themes:

  • Innovations in HR
  • Innovations in Product
  • Innovations in Marketing

At the convention, finalist teams presented business proposals on stage. Two finalist teams presented papers on each of the above themes.

Raman Roy, chairman and managing director, Quattro BPO Solutions (P) Ltd, was the chief guest during the inaugural session on 8th September 2006. 

Karti P Chidambaram, managing director, Chess Management Services P Ltd, delivered the valedictory address on September 9, 2006. D Shiv Kumar, managing director, Nokia India P Ltd, addressed the delegates on 'Innovations in Marketing', and P Rama Babu, managing director, EID Parry (India) Ltd, spoke on 'Innovations in HR'. 

The winners of the business plan competition walked away with cash awards for Rs 25,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 and trophies. The winners of paper presentation competition got Rs 20,000 as first prize and Rs 10,000 as second prize.

More than 800 management students, faculty members from different colleges from all over India and executives from various corporates participated in the two-day convention.
