Scholars' League in TN
Scholars' League, a Bangalore-based educational services venture, run by IIT-IIM graduates, has been launched in Tamil
Nadu.
To clock a top-line growth of Rs 3 crore in March 2006, from the current year's figure of 0.6 crore, Scholars' League is increasing its presence from its existing 3 to 5 centres in Bangalore; launching 5 centres in Chennai; and entering the markets of Tiruchirapalli, Madurai, Salem and Coimbatore by May-end, 2005, said Neelesh Asati, CEO, Scholars' League, in
Chennai.
The growth will be through a mix of direct presence and franchisee network. From June, Scholars' League will be launching multiple centres in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. Also, the 2nd phase of expansion will see Scholars' League diversifying its product range from only MBA entrances to Civil Services, GRE,
GMAT.
With a significant growth in demand for MBAs over the last few years, an MBA has become a basic requirement for any profession. In an individual's life, CAT (Common Admission Test) scores are the deciding factor today about whether he/she pursues an MBA; from which business school; and enters which particular profession. This in turn sets the course of that individual's career path. The quality of placements depends on the type of B-school that he/she is enrolled in.
Scholars' League is a three-year-old organisation that equips MBA aspirants with strong fundamentals and short-cuts to ace their CAT exams. Scholars' League has the highest IIM calls to number of students ratio, among institutes in India.
About 22 per cent of its students are currently pursuing their MBA in HMs and 47 per cent have joined any one among the top 15 B-schools in India. In the 2003 CAT paper, 22 questions were from Scholars' League's material.
The training includes learning assistance for all the subject areas of an MBA Entrance test, personality development training focused on group discussion and personal interview skills. The programme caters to all categories of tests - CAT, XAT, MAT and state entrances. About 95 per cent of Scholar's League students got through the GD-PI, sailing through to the final selection.
"We are an organisation run by IIM alumni. Our course content material is well-researched and we move from fundamentals to advanced concepts to speed building and test-taking strategy, gradually. It is a unique class structure that combines student preparation and classroom mentoring to deliver enriched learning," says Neelesh
Asati.
''As a launch programme, we are organising a unique CAT help desk in Chennai on March 5, 6 which is open to all MBA aspirants. It involves aptitude testing based on the one-hour CAT pattern that will be evaluated by Dr Natarajan's tool. This will be followed by a personality assessment and counseling by IIM alumni, one-on-one. Such an event is being conducted in India for the first time and it is free for all MBA aspirants," says Rangarajan Iyengar, director, Sales and Marketing, Scholars' League.
The CAT Helpdesk is on at the Loyola College on March 5 (4.30 p.m.) and March 6. All MBA aspirants can collect their admit card from the Scholars' League centre in Nungambakkam or contact ran~a@scholarsleague.com or call 30931686 for more details about the helpdesk.
