The actor has consented to receive the doctorate. He will also deliver a special address.
The news has come as sweet Pongal greetings to his fans who will no doubt celebrate the occasion with gusto and
fervour.
Kamal's last film, Vasool Raja MBBS, was a comedy revolving around a local Dada becoming a doctor through the illegal route. A song in the film also described him as 'Sakalakala Doctor'. Poet Vairamuthu, speaking at the audio release of the film, last year was prophetic when he said that Kamal Hassan, an actor of rare calibre, and who was also versatile as a director, producer, editor, singer and a poet, had every qualification to receive a honorary doctorate. His wish has come true within a few months.
