The British Council, in partnership with the
Centre for Biotechnology, Anna University, Chennai, is
organising a two-day seminar on 'Biotechnology: UK and Indian
Perspectives' on September 11-12, 2007. The purpose of this
two-day seminar is to familiarise students and faculty on
current trends in biotechnology and its applications in both
countries - India and UK.
The seminar will be held at the Vivekananda
Auditorium, Anna University, Chennai 600 025. Eminent scientists
from key universities in the UK and India will deliver lectures
in the areas of:
* Agriculture Biotechnology
* Bioprocess Technology
* Genetics and Forensic Genetics
* Healthcare Biotechnology Stem Cell, Micro Array Technology The seminar would be useful for students of
biotechnology at under-graduate and postgraduate levels,
researchers and faculty teaching life sciences, basic biomedical
sciences, biotechnology and applied fields. All students
attending the seminar will receive a participation certificate.

August 31, 2007.
The Centre for Biotechnology (CBT) was
established in 1987 with financial support from the Department
of Biotechnology, University Grants Commission, and Anna
University. CBT provides education and training facilities in
biotechnology and conducts fundamental research in the frontier
areas of biotechnology. It offers a four-year
B.Tech programme in Industrial Biotechnology. Recently, two more
new B.Tech programmes have been introduced in Food Biotechnology
and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. It offers a two-year M.Tech in
Biotechnology and an M.Tech in Biopharmaceutical Technology.
It also offers Ph.D programmes in Biotechnology and two years
