Knowledge Xchange, an independent, non-profit, non-partisan organisation is being launched in Chennai. This launch coincides with Rev Fr Casimir Raj S J completing 50 years as a teacher par excellence. He is currently director, XLRI,
Jamshedpur.
Knowledge Xchange, founded by a group of like-minded people, is dedicated to bringing about a radical change in the way knowledge is imparted. A team of professionals will evolve innovative theories, models and ideas in pedagogy and content of teaching and learning that will promote excellence in the field of education. Knowledge Xchange will be governed by the founder, board of trustees and members, said Joe Arun, Dean of Studies, Loyola College.
Knowledge Xchange will conduct programmes related to education systems thereby constantly upgrading teaching and learning, evolving creative models of education and applying the models that can usher in an intellectually sharp, economically productive, socially compassionate, spiritually sound and politically democratic society, V A George of Knowledge Xchange said.
The mission of the organisation is to observe and investigate the process of education in schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu and India and evolve new insights and models in education that will produce capable, employable and successful individuals who can lead an extraordinary life in an ordinary way, George added.
To kickstart the activity, Knowledge Xchange, in association with XLRI, Jamshedpur, is organising an International Seminar titled 'Delearn to Relearn - Redefining the Architecture of Education' on May 12, 2007, at Hotel Taj Coromandel, Chennai. The seminar will focus on various new methods of learning and teaching and will discuss how to implement the new method of learning and teaching in educational institutions. The seminar will be of importance for those in teaching/education professions, George said.
Eminent national and international speakers from the field of education will share their experience in a way which will make an impact on teachers, said Casimir Raj. Sam Pitroda, chairman, National Knowledge Commission, India, will deliver the inaugural address. Other important speakers include Sachin Pilot, MP, Bhaskar Das, executive president, TOI Group, Paul Chan, president, HELP University College ( Malaysia ), Rev Fr Casimir Raj S.
