Mock placements at SVCE
The Forum for Economic Studies by Engineers (FORESE) of Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Sriperumbudur, is providing the students of the college with a unique opportunity to hone their professional skills, by conducting a series of mock placements at the college campus.
On-campus placement being the watchword for most young engineers-to-be, this event helps those looking to be placed to get a feel of the whole process. Pre-final year students are given an experience as close as possible to the real one, complete with the HR personnel from all leading companies being present.
Spread over a period of two days, the event on Saturday, February 17, was a mind-blowing success with over 200 students thronging to ‘get placed’! The activities continued on Monday, February 19, too, at the college campus. The agenda for the day was power-packed, offering the complete placement experience, right from the aptitude tests, group dynamic sessions and personal interviews with placement officers from the HR departments of many leading companies, recruiting candidates from various branches of study.
With over 500 students turning out, the event, that has been active for the past four years, offers students a chance to be interviewed by officers who actually attend the real placements too. Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Ashok Leyland, TAFE, Siemens, TVS, CPCL, Motorola & Reliance Retail are among the high-profile companies that conducted the interviews.
FORESE, one of the most active forums at the college, has been buzzing with activity throughout the year, with the mock placements adding on to the list that includes national-level symposiums and various such activities that aid students in sharpening their managerial skills.
The mock placements, however, don’t just help the candidates but also offer the HRs of the companies an invaluable insight into the standard of the students and showcase what the college has to offer. The event has been organised completely by the students belonging to FORESE, headed by president Rushabh Francis Nathan and ably guided by Prof Muraleedharan, chief placement officer of SVCE and coordinator of the forum.
The aspiring candidates will have no surprises at the placements now, confident of excelling in them! Surely, the best thing that can happen to any aspirant at
SVCE!
