Samhita 2006: I code, therefore I am...
Samhita 2006 is the annual technical fest of the departments of Computer Science and Information Technology, Madras Institute of Technology, Anna University. It is scheduled for March 16.
Dictionary.com defines ‘Samhita’ as a Sanskrit word meaning “a collection of sacred devotional hymns in Sanskrit constituting one of the four Vedas”. True to its name, Samhita has always symbolised a sacred confluence of great minds that indulge in a day of intense competitions, spectacular demonstrations and much more. It offers a chance to unleash the real technologist within you.
The festival hosts a wide range of events – from paper presentations to programming contest, debugging to technical and general quizzes, and gaming to potpourri and relic hunter. Each year a considerable number of engineers flocks to the campus for an extraordinary celebration of technology, innovation and creativity.
The highlights of the festival are the programming and debugging contests that test the nerves of top coders from around the world and they do not stop until every neuron of the contestant’s brain is religiously inspected for quality and accuracy of thought and innovation. This year, the contests are expected to be even more challenging to ensure that the winner is none but only the best.
The paper presentation event attracts people at the cutting-edge of technology and research and helps their cause to present their research findings. The papers are from fields as diverse as Pervasive Computing, Robotics, and Nanotechnology and include every imaginable facet of the industry that is bound to erupt with a technological revolution.
As always, Samhita promises to be a treasure trove of information, ideas and edutainment. Moreover, what better way than to have a quiz? Samhita hosts a technical and a general quiz to keep all those quiz freaks occupied throughout the day.
It is not just the technically bent-minds that Samhita entices and arouses, it also hosts hands-on events that are fun, entertaining, and at the same time challenging and fiercely competitive for the non-technical being in you, the likes of which pull steamy UT and NFS gamers and the ex-cogitating relic hunters.
Samhita 2005 was a grand success with students from reputed institutions from across the country proving their mettle and expertise in technology and science. Continuing the trend, this year too, Samhita is expected to be a colorful tech-fest for engineers and technocrats, squeezing their grey matter to highlight their skills.
Samhita urges you to open up your horizons and think differently to live up to its ethos that has always been to celebrate technology. All participants are assured of impeccable organisation and meticulousness in events and hospitality.
Whether you are an algo geek, a quiz freak, or even a gaming crank, Samhita has it all for you!
