Kalakrithi 06
The boring, hour-long lectures, continuous lab sessions and blissful undisturbed sleeping in the classroom were suddenly missing.
Instead the place was filled with glitter and glamour with lots of activities.
Yup, yup, yup. I am describing the gala cultural event of A C Tech college, Kalakrithi ’06, held from February 16-18.
The event started on February 16 evening with a serene but colorful inauguration by Dr D Viswanathan, the Vice Chancellor of Anna University. A scintillating drumming by 10-year-old prodigy Siddarth followed this (he is the son of maestro
Sivamani). Fire crackers set ablaze the sky, which made the audience scream till their voices failed them. The night ended with the screening of a classic movie, ‘Troy’.
The second day started very early and saw students busily taking part in many of the literary and art events. While colorful fire crackers set ablaze the evening sky, students were ready to set ablaze the stage with groovy moves and on-the-spot jigs at the impromptu dance and group dance event. The highlight, or rather the ‘highlights’ of the evening, were professional shows by The Flyers, mimicry show by Manohar and the glittering presence of silver screen stars Shruthika and
Vikranth.
The third and final day added a colorful hue to the event where students played around with colours in the rangoli and painting competitions. The minds of the participants were ignited when they tried their hand at the various quizzes. Variety show in the evening had the audience roaring with laughter holding their sides. This was followed by a professional music show by Karunas. It was really a star-studded event as the presence of actress Pooja and actor S J Surya really made a difference.
Apart from this, all the evenings had informal games where students participated without inhibition.
Gosh, all good times have to end. Yup, as the event ended several sighs were heard as people had to get back to their books, lectures, assessments and assignments. But one need not worry as the students of A C Tech will come back with a pack of fun-filled three days next year too.
