An ACE college symposium
Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Sriperumbudur, has been abuzz with an array of activities in the past weeks. With the reawakening of various associations and replenishment of hordes of activities, there is no dearth for excitement on the campus.
The Association of Computer Engineers (ACE) of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, witnessed its inauguration for the academic year 2006-07 on Thursday, August 17, 2006.
T Sekar, head, Process/Quality Infrastructure at Congruent Solutions Pvt Ltd, was the chief guest, who also delivered a lecture on the recent trends and issues in software development.
The following day, Prof N Venkateswaran, director, Waran Research Foundation (WARFT), inspired the students to accelerate their goals towards becoming technical leaders of the nation, through his lecture on the ‘Design Challenges of Supercomputing Systems’.
The Vice-Principal of the college and Head of the Department of Computer Science, Dr R Ramachandran and Assistant Professor T Srinivasan, staff coordinator of ACE, along with Archana Vijayakumar, student president of ACE, were all present on both occasions and exuded a warm welcome to the dignitaries and students.
ACE, that continues to be one of the most actively functioning organisations in the college, is now gearing up for its annual extravaganza, “Interrupt ‘06”, a national-level technical symposium. “Showcasing your technical skills can never get more approachable,” says S Abhilash, general secretary of ACE.
With paper presentations and a ‘Techathlon’ that promises to test every aspect of the ‘comp wiz’ inside you, it couldn’t get better! To add more pep to the already smouldering pan of variety, there will also be two guest lectures, by Dr Anand Kannan, director, Valued Epistemics Pvt Ltd, and Subramaniam. The events begin at 10 a.m. and the day culminates at 3 p.m. with the valedictory function that will also witness the distribution of prizes to those emerging winners.
So, all those with an eye for programming, a passion for quizzing or an obsessive compulsive disorder regarding any aspect of the virtual globe, wake up and board any of the SVCE college buses. This is no Matrix, Neos! So, welcome to the real world, nothing can ‘Interrupt’ you now!
