Dharani with SAE students
'Dhil', 'Dhool', 'Gilli' - Dharani. The director with the golden touch held an interactive session on digital film making at the SAE Technology College recently and shared his experiences with the students.
This special guest lecture session was organised to help the students get a first-hand experience from one of the best directors in the Tamil film industry. The enthusiastic students of DFM (Digital Film Making) asked the director various questions about his films and his forthcoming ventures. A lot of questions emanated from the budding talent among the boys and girls. Dharani handled them in a simple yet Kollywood style.
He feels that education is a must for everyone, as one should keep learning. "You have to be up-to-date on what is happening around the world," he added.
Dharani recommended the usage of digital film format as a good beginning. He also feels that editing is a part of the script. This can be improvised until the last minute.
Regarding the use of computer graphics in today’s films, Dharani maintains that it can be used to portray the impossible as possible. He also feels that one must have confidence in people in today’s scenario. This self-made director says Jayakanthan’s novels always inspired him and Thomas Hardy’s 'Far From the Madding Crowd' helped him become what he is today.
Dharani then screened some scenes from his box-office hit 'Dhool', which he felt were very difficult to shoot. He also showed some scenes which really reached the audience.
Overall, the guest lecture session was an interactive, informative and enjoyable one, said the students.
