Career guidance seminar
The career guidance cell of Quaid-e-Millath Government College for Women organised a career guidance seminar for its final-year students recently. The seminar was conducted over two days.
A. Vijay Kumar, president, Career Development of India, spoke to the students about the transition from college life to corporate life.
He pointed out that every student should make it a point to speak in English for at least one hour everyday so as to improve one’s communication skills. It is the duty of everyone to be good to the nation. Only when one is good to the nation, the nation will be good to him, he added.
This was followed by a lecture on 'Opportunities in Multimedia' by T G Srinivasan, director of Pixel Studios. He pointed out that the easiest thing to do today was to get a job, the only requirement being that one should have reasonable intelligence and willingness to work hard. He also advised the students to redefine career.
T A Balasubramanian, faculty of Arena Multimedia, Kilpauk, gave an insight to the students on the different courses available in multimedia. Karunanidhi gave some tips on medical transcription.
Dr A Vallikkannu, career guidance coordinator of the college, said the placement cell has been active since 1999. About 100 students were placed in various companies last year. This year, they hope to give placement assistance to more than 100 students.
