The SRM Engineering College celebrated its 15th graduation day on 21st February, 2004. The College has become a constituent of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed university) from the year 2003 – 2004.
The 15th graduation ceremony witnessed 484 graduates belonging to Civil, Mechanical, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Electric and Electronics, Instrumentation and Control, Chemical Engineering, Information Technology, Architecture – the various disciplines of Engineering education. There were also 179 members of Master of Computer Application, Master of Business Management, Master of Engineering (Structural), Master of Engineering (CAD/CAM) and Master of Engineering (Computer Science and Engineering) Post Graduate students acquiring their PG degrees.
SRM Engineering college also boasts of 57 rank holders who received the medallions and certificates awarded by the University of Madras. The college has secured the highest number of ranks among the affiliated colleges of the University of Madras in BE, B.Tech, B.Arch and M.E. degree examinations held during April 2003.

Prof V N Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice Chairman, University Grants Commission, in his address to the graduates, exhorted them to continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills and participate effectively in the endeavour of nation building. He also added that education should not lose sight of ethical values which were equally important.
T P Pachamuthu, Chancellor of SRM Institute of Science and Technology and Chairman of the SRM group, in his presidential address, called upon the graduates to fly the SRM banner high in whatever avocation they chose to take. Earlier Dr T P Ganesan, Director, SRM Engineering College, in his welcome speech, detailed how SRM Engineering College had developed over the years into a prestigious engineering college from humble beginnings.
Earlier in the day, there was an Alumni meet wherein scholarships and assistance to the deserving students for a value of Rs. 60,000 were given.
