The humour column, 'A-musings', thus came into being, the first piece published on January 16th, 2002. Chennai-based in content, the column, focused mainly on events and situations in the cit, in keeping with the spirit of Madras Musings. Writer Ranjitha Ashok and cartoonist Biswajit Balasubramanian went about collecting material for the bi-weekly column by scouring through newspapers, magazines and watching news channels, observing citizens and registering their ideas and concerns. In short, they listened to the voice of the city.

The book is a compilation of a part of their work for A-musings over three years. It is published by EastWest Books (Madras) Pvt Ltd. and priced at Rs 170.

Biswajit Balasubramanian's cartoons have appeared in Madras Musings and a few other publications in Chennai. He has participated in and conducted various cartoon, illustration and drawing workshops, notably in Apollo Specialty Hospital, working with children. He is currently working on children's books for a leading publisher. He says he has not undergone any formal training but has been doodling from childhood.

Ranjitha Ashok is a writer and columnist, living in Chennai. A regular contributor to Madras Musings, she has worked with S Muthiah on several book projects. She recently published her first book for a leading publisher. Her all-time favourite is P G Wodehouse, though her list of favourite humourists is rather long.
