Three-and-a-half decades since the school was founded, the Padma Seshadri Bala Bahavan (PSBB) has been recognized as a top-notch center of academic excellence.Started out under a small thatched roof with 13 students, by Mrs.Y.G,Parthasarathy, the instituition has grown in leaps and bounds over the years. The unique aspect of the instituition is its continuous focus on the learning process than on information or inert content. No wonder, its a regular element in the parents plan for their child. Commemorating its 50 years of service in the field of education, the school has organized the inauguration of the Golden Jubilee celebration by Surjit Singh Barnala, Governor of Tamilnadu, on the 21st Febuary, 2008.A �Postal Cover� will be released on the occasion. PSBB has adopted a middle school of 800 students, run by the Panchayat Union at Sundara Cholavaram in the suburbs in Chennai to provide academic support and necessary infrastructure.

The year long celebration in Chennai will also include various Inter-school, Intra-School competitions both in terms of Sports, Culture and Academics. The three schools in Chennai will present a cultural bonanza, a comprehensive school project, a seminar for teachers, Alumni programmes (guest lectures for students) will also be arranged.PSBB is known for its involvement in various exchange programmes like the I.A.Y.P. (Inter-national Award for Young People), World School Forum, Global Young Leaders Conference which provide the students and teachers an opportunity to participate and express their views on international platforms.

PSBB has a Special Education Centre to focus and train the children with learning disabilities to improve their academic performance. The school also has several social welfare clubs namely IAYP, RSP, Interact Club, Health Club and Exnora Club which act as a platform to interact and encourage the students to think and act differently.

The School Alumni is wide spread across the country holding top positions in various fields namely Law, Architecture, Sports, Business and Management, Medicine, Performing Arts, Journalism, Engineering etc. Some of the prominent among them are A R Rahman, Murali Karthick, Chetan Babu, Sharad Kamal and more.
