Even as the BCCI negotiations with players over signing the ICC sponsorship contract continues, the board today said it would announce the team on August 29 or 30 for the Champions Trophy, to be played at Colombo from September 12 to 29.

“I don’t think we can wait for much longer as we have to announce the team before this weekend and I will inform the press through the board’s representative to release the team after selectors get in touch with me either on August 29 or 30,” BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah said here today.

Shah was speaking before his departure for Dubai for the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting on August 29.

With the players, who are currently on tour to England, still refusing to sign the players’ term form over the sponsorship issue, the selectors were forced to pick the team from the 25 probables already selected, he said.

The Indian players, including Sachin Tendulkar, skipper Saurav Ganguly, vice-captain Rahul Dravid and star batsman Virender Sehwag, are the hardest hit by ICC’s controversial players' term form.
