Bowl better in second innings: King
Kingston (Jamaica), June 29: West Indies coach Bennett King believes an improved bowling performance in the second innings will be the key to West Indies' victory in the fourth and final against India starting here tomorrow. "In the two of the three Tests, we've been leading reasonably comprehensively on the first innings. The second knock is something we've got to address and get something in the armoury to get us those wickets," said King after the training session on Wednesday. West Indies led India in Antigua in the first innings as well as in the third Test in St. Kitts where they ran up a total of 582.
However, Indian batsmen in the second knock proved difficult to dislodge for their bowlers. "Wickets do flatten out. We have to be probably a bit more strategic in some of the areas that we are looking to bowl and make better use of the resources that we've got. "We will be pressing for result as the consistency with the batting has been better and with the bowling the team has been able to get first innings 10 wickets more consistently.
"We just have to learn from that first innings and keep trying to improve in the second innings," King emphasised. King said that the team needed that extra bit to prevail once the wicket flattens out. "You need to have something up your sleeve, whether it is someone very, very quick or a world class spinner or someone there getting good line and length, not necessarily getting the breakthrough but putting the pressure on the batsmen."
