Kolkata, April 18: Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly made a surprise statement today ranking his team's recent performance against Australia, where they drew the Test series 1-1 and lost the one-day series, higher than the triumph over Pakistan, where they won both the Test and one-day series. "Every tour is important and Pakistan was also an important assignment. Indo-Pak matches are always big pressure games and it is good to be on the winning side. We have done outstandingly well. But the performance in
Australia is more satisfying as they are a better team," Ganguly told reporters here.
After an overnight stop-over in Delhi, Ganguly, vice-captain Rahul Dravid, Parthiv Patel and V V S Laxman all returned to their respective home towns where they spoke about the team's achievement in Pakistan. Dravid, speaking on arrival in Bangalore, expressed the hope that the team will continue to play like it did in Pakistan. "I hope we continue to do the good work. It's just the first series we won. We have a long way to go, and I hope we will continue to play well like this," Dravid said. (Agencies)
