Mumbai, Feb 23 The visiting England Lions outfit thrashed Saurashtra by 176 runs in their third and final warm-up match at the Brabourne Stadium here today.
The Lions, who took part in the Duleep Trophy, powered their way to 298 for 7 wickets in 50 overs and then skittled out Saurashtra for only 122 in 33.1 overs to emerge victors.
Joe Denly (56 in 69 balls) and wicket keeper-batsman Ed Joyce, who slammed 15 fours in his whirlwind 108-ball essay, pummelled the Saurashtra attack to pile up 122 runs for the second wicket after the early loss of the first wicket at 13.
In reply, Saurashtra were unable to cope with the bowling of Charlie Shrek, who grabbed four wickets, Alan Richardson and Steve Kirby and folded up in just over two and a half hours.
