King not willing to extend his contract with BCCI: Shah

New Delhi, Feb 15 Indian cricket team's trainer Gregory Allen King has informed the BCCI that he did not intend to continue at the post after the ongoing tour of Australia.

King, who took up the reins from compatriot Adrian Le Roux in August, 2003, was contracted with the BCCI till December, 2007, but has decided against seeking the extension.

"He has expressed his desire not to continue (as the Indian team's trainer) after this tour (of Australia), citing personal reasons," BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah said today.

The 34-year-old trainer although had a non-controversial stint with the Indian team, recently it was suggested that his observations were partly responsible for the non-selection of Sourav Gagnuly in the ODI squad.

King is a post-graduate in Human Kinetics and Ergonomics, was a fitness trainer and sports scientist with the Border Cricket Board in South Africa since 1998. (Agencies)
