Karachi, Feb 27 Describing Pakistan a "peaceful and hospitable" nation, the country's Australian cricket coach Geoff Lawson has urged Ricky Ponting's men not to be concerned about the security situation here and come for the scheduled March-April tour.
"Look I have been living in Pakistan now for the last few months and they are one or two places where security is an issue. But apart from that Pakistan remains a safe place to play cricket," Lawson told reporters in Lahore.
"The Pakistani people are very hospitable and love their cricket and they are looking forward to this series against Australians," he added.
"If they don't come it will be a big disappointment not only for the cricket fans but also a setback for the sport in general in the country." The former Australian pacer, who took over as Pakistan coach last August, said he has personally assured some Australian players about the security situation here in informal briefings.
"It is peaceful in most parts of the country and I think we must have this series. Australia must tour with the Pakistan board also keen to have this series and giving them all assurances," he said. (Agencies)
