government had cast a doubt in its affidavit in the Supreme Court
whether Rama was a historical figure but the related portions in the
affidavit were later withdrawn.

engineering college Rama had studied to build the bridge to Lanka.
This added fuel to the fire.
It led to an attack on the house
of Selvi, Karunanidhi's daughter, in Bangalore. Two people were
burnt to death when a Tamil Nadu state express bus was burnt in
Karnataka.
More statements followed from the
leaders and the whole country is now debating the issue.
