At Dhanushkodi
On the
beach every grain of sand of time
Made an epic leap backwards to legend
Whose noble heroes must have heard the chime
Unending of the foaming breakers grand.
Here, they say, the great incarnation stood
In brotherly tandem with his righteous
Mate, brooding across the watery rood
His strategies to end the reign vicious
Of the dreaded foe of the golden isle.
A wistful breath wafted us to that hour
Consecrating the shore and the shoal awhile.
The tryst of the blue duo is a mirror
Of pious placid pool on the radiant east
And on the west an incantating priest.
