The Sea - A Villanelle

The surf and swell of the roaring main
Stilled my mind to a serene hush.
A waveless peace reigned within
My inside was a tuneful tide.
Its riot lost in the breaker's rush
Little knew what without betide.
Could swirling waters tranquillise
To anchor the racing mind's gush.
I rarely ere could realise -
A silence in the sounding waves
My ceaseless coiling flushed
In whelming tide it no more raves
What puzzle and wonder it is
That the fret and fume and the dash
Of rollers could gift a profound peace
To me it was all clear at once
God Siva' s notching bliss of hush
Melts into waves of jigging trance
A waveless peace reigned within.
