Rishikaas - II
Abaala:
 Rishikaa Abaala was a descendant of Athiri maharishi. Since she suffered from a skin disease, her husband refused to accept her which made Abaala return to her parent's house. One morning, while returning home after bathing in the river, she saw a soma plant. She had wanted to offer soma rasam to Lord Indra that day.
She plucked the leaves and chewed them, thus offering the rasam to the Lord. Indra, pleased by her offering, granted her three boons. Abaala's three wishes were, that hair should grow on her father's bald head, his dry lands should become fertile again to give a bountiful harvest and that her skin disease should be cured. Indra granted the wishes, to Abaala's delight. Abaala is the rishikaa for this Suktham. (Rig Veda VIII 91. In some it is mentioned as VIII 80.)
Kosha:
Kosha, a maharishi, was the granddaughter of Theertha Thamas Maharishi and daughter of Kakshivaan Maharishi. She was afflicted with leprosy and so she was forced to spend her life as a spinster. Later, she prayed to Ashvini Devathas with two Sukthams. The Devathas cured her, bestowed her with beauty and health and got her married to a worthy groom. (Rig Veda 1117.7).
Kosha says, “Oh Ashvini Devathas! Listen to what I have to say. Help me as a son would help his parents. I am a poor girl with no relatives and friends. Save me from this curse as soon as possible.” (Rig Veda X 39.6)
“Starting at dawn and leaving for those houses where the yagas are being performed, where are your chariots finally reaching as destination at the end of the day? Who adorns your chariots for you? (Rig Veda X 40.1)'
"Where do you spend your evenings and where are you in the mornings? Where do you rest for the night? As a bride would attract the groom's attention, who brings you home? (Rig Veda X 40.2)'
“Oh Ashvini Devathaas! who are bright and perform miracles, with whom do you mingle? Who makes you stay with them? Where have you gone? Is it to any sage's ashram or to bless someone who offers you prayer?" (Rig Veda X 40.14)
