Jayaprakash Narayan : Revolutionary and Loknayak

Under the public outreach programme, the National Archives of India has been organizing exhibitions on contemporary themes and life and times of the makers of modern India. In the same series, exhibitions on 'Jayaprakash Narayan : Revolutionary and Loknayak' has been organized by National Archives of India in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Archives and Lalith Kala Akademi, to coincide with his birth centenary celebration.

This exhibition is the condensed version of the exhibition organized in October 2002 at the National Archives of India, New Delhi.
It comprises of public records, private papers, contemporary photographs and newspaper and would portray the multi-faceted personality of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan and also throw light on his contribution to the social and political growth of India. His contribution to India's freedom movement , his solution to socio-political problems,his approach towards Total Revolution and his suggestion for radical reforms have been revealed through exhibits.

The exhibits have been divided into five sections

1.Early life(1902-1930).
2.During freedom struggle(1930-1947).
3.As political and social reformer(1948-1973).
4.Towards total revolution(1974-1977).
5.External journey.

The exhibition was inaugurated in the presence of Sri H.D Singh, director general of archives, govt of India, Thiru V.K Subburaj, I.A.S, Secretary, Higher Education, Govt of Tamil Nadu and Thiru N. Athimoolam, I.A.S, Special commissioner of Archives and Historical Research, Tamil Nadu Archives.

This exhibition would remain open to public from 19th May 2003 to 23rd May 2003 (10 am to 4.30 pm).
