 The teaser ad merely had a big red dot and the line 'Pudusu Kanna Pudusu'. A couple of days later, we all knew what it was. It was the
Tamil magazine 'Kungumam' that was been launched with a fresh look and content. But what we did not know then was how the jingle would catch on so fast.
If an office-, school- or college-goer has something new, he/she does not stop with merely saying, "This is new (pudusu)." No. They have to sing the jingle "Pudusu Kanna Pudusu." A colleague had a retort for that concerning something that was not-so-new: Pazhasu Kanna Pazhasu - he said.
It seems like the new promo has done wonders for the magazine's circulation. For instance, a fancy article shop owner in
Kancheepuram has been trying to lay his hands on a copy of the magazine after seeing the ad but has been consistently beaten to it by other people. The corner bunk shop guy always has one standard reply: "Sold out."
 "It is probably not just the ad but also the freebies that have come with the mag that have made it sell like hot cakes," sneers a critic.
Remember the time when you could not ask, "Ennachu?" without everyone answering in chorus, "Kozhantha Azhuthuthu," (copying the Woodwards Gripe Water ad line)? 'Pudusu Kanna Pudusu' has reached that status where it is not just on everybody's mind but also everybody's lips!
