We were constantly under the threat of experiencing power cuts for quite some time. Last month, for a couple of days there was the announced power cut and people squirmed Suddenly it was withdrawn.

With the power situation very grim the government has decided to implement the power cut all of a sudden. In some areas the duration is predictable like one and half to two hours but in many areas it's always a guess game.



In some localities the inmates are rudely woken up from their sleep as the power mercilessly goes off by early six in the morning. Children and office goers find it very difficult as they have to get ready to their professional destinations. They really have to sweat it out as if they are straight from a gym.

For women it is a horrendous task to work without power. It is like getting cooked in an oven and frying pan.

In some the localities the power is cut at dusk clothing the area in darkness. After all, How many of us can afford an inverter?

Besides the home front the offices are the worst affected. It is rather difficult to streamline jobs due to power cut as certain work can be done only at a particular time. The power cut has assumed gargantuan proportions.

Some resident also complain about the high voltage soon after the power is restored. If that is the case then it takes double the time for the power to limp back to normalcy.

The power position is bleak and there is not even a gleam at the end of the tunnel. The power cut is inextricably intertwined with the lives of the people. Imponderables apart what's the future has in store for us is difficult to foretell.

After all we are not soothsayers.
