"Our aim is to offer customers attractive and affordable tariff plans. This latest offering provides unlimited opportunities in a limited budget to our ever-increasing customer base. In a cluttered telecom space with multiple tariff plans, this scheme is not just simple, but offers unparalleled benefits and excellent value for money."

Swaminathan said Airtel Budget Plan has a host of features, which are exclusive and economical to its customers. Budget conscious customers - A key segment
Research data clearly proves that this segment of the customers (budget conscious) demonstrate some very unique usage patterns led by a real need for a mobile phone. In keeping with international trends, uptake of SMS is the highest with the youth & young executives, often five times more than other age segments. Qualitative and quantitative studies indicate that nowadays mobile phones are being seen as a driver of self-identity by this age group, with a strong emphasis on 'self expression'. It is against this background that the value proposition of the budget pack has been developed.

60th Independence Dav offer
Airtel, as a part of celebrating India's 60th year of Independence, has offered its customers a new recharge scheme under which every new customer who purchases any starter pack on or before August 15, 2006, and recharges it before August 31 for the denomination of Rs 331, can avail of full talktime benefit on the same.
