People often look to astrologers at time like this first to provide clues, and then to ask why didn't we warn of the New York/Washington tragedy? The Pluto/Saturn opposition has been and will be a central signature for our present times.
Often Psychics and Astrologers do warn of upcoming events, but unfortunately these warnings are either ignored as ridiculous by a society not prepared to use all at its disposal, or they are drowned in the sea of information.
Previously when there has been a Pluto/Saturn opposition it has marked some significant events in history. Back in 1931, we had the Depression, and in 1965, there were Civil Rights Riots, The Vietnam War and huge political changes. Let's examine our current situation.
The symbolism of the twin towered World Trade Centre at the receiving end of this tragedy is remarkable, (trading is associated with Mercury, ruler of Gemini, the twins!). Saturn is in the sign of Gemini, and indeed the very image of the building is like the glyph or symbol of Gemini. Pluto has been making its way for a few years now through Sagittarius, representing different cultures, religion, higher education and travel. Pluto can bring devastating transformations and its way is never gentle, but always inexorable.
On the day of the tragedy we have the Moon in Gemini, opposing Mars, newly moved into Capricorn. The Moon represents the common people in mundane astrology and ominous Mars opposes this, indicating danger. There is also a barely aspected Neptune. I have noticed that whenever there is a disaster of global proportions any of the outer planets i.e., Pluto, Uranus or Neptune are virtually or entirely
unaspected.
This also indicates the sacrifice of the perpetrators, who have given up their lives to die for their cause, and also indicates the difficulty and confusion to find the organisation responsible. There appears to be an open declaration of war against democracy, and yet so far the enemy is anonymous, indicative of Neptune's cloudiness and uncertainty.
But when a tragedy of this magnitude occurs, there is a tremendous urge amongst people to pull together as one, to join against the enemy. Our own petty squabbles and differences fade into insignificance, and how fitting that the power of television (Neptune) is the instant communicator that unites us as we see the drama unfold.
Now as an astrologer, I personally do not have time to endlessly pour over charts of different countries to try and ascertain where disaster may occur, but there are those that do, and they may come forward over the next few days. Ultimately, we are looking at an attack on a certain way of living, personified by American values. We live in a world where there is little tolerance to those who are different.
The Pluto/Saturn opposition crosses the signs associated with thinking and thought processes. It is on this fundamental level we are being forced to contemplate new ways of being. There are those who are against new thought who will hang on to traditional values at all costs, and so depending on which side of the fence we choose to remain on, the other side will represent the enemy.
However, we can see ourselves reflected in others' response to us. As the days bring news and political comment, we must recognise that we live in unprecedented times, where our achievements have never been greater, but our ability to destroy becomes ever more devastating. None of this is ever going to undo the events of that fateful day or bring back the thousands who died. But what it can do is illuminate the signs to watch for, if we in the
future intend to listen and act through being so forewarned.
