Chennai, April 20: From tomorrow the sprawling Raj Bhavan campus, housing various varieties of flora and fauna, would be opened for public viewing during weekends. Raj Bhavans across the country have generally been inaccessible to common man. A few parts of the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Mumbai Raj Bhavan have been open to the public for viewing.
Considering that Raj Bhavan Chennai has got a long history and heritage, which everyone would be curious to know and experience,Tamil Nadu Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao has ordered for opening of the sprawling campus for public viewing. ''I am glad to inform you that general public will have the opportunity to visit Raj Bhavan, Chennai hereafter as done in Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi and Raj Bhavan, Mumbai'', the Governor siad.
''This will provide an opportunity for the public not only to see this historic place but to feel oneness with nature and enjoy the green cover. Opening of Raj Bhavan, with good green cover in the heart of the city, will also help the visitors to know their tree friends and the variety of flora and fauna'', Mr Vidyasagar Rao added. ''It is my pleasure to invite the public to visit Raj Bhavan Chennai. It will be opened for public from tomorrow'', he said, adding, all that one has to do was to go to the Raj Bhavan website and register their names'', the Governor said.
