Jodi No. 1, the dance show on
Vijay TV, is back in its second season. Jodi No. 1 Season 2
launches on August 3, 2007, at the 8 p.m. band Fridays and
Saturdays as the
Super Singer Junior programme has come to a close.
Jodi No. 1
season one was launched in October 2006. The show witnessed
four real life couples and four reel life couples put on their
dancing shoes; facing moments of excitement and exhilaration
over 13 weeks. While the eminent panel of judges, comprising
dance master Kala, popular actor Prashanth and the ravishing
Ramya Krishnan chose the two finalists, the viewers picked the
third finalist - Prem and Pooja; the winners of the wild card
round were adjudged the champions of Jodi No. 1 by the
audiences.
This reel life couple won the coveted title of Jodi
No. 1 and walked away with a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh. Apart
from the title and the prize money, these stars became
superstars overnight with a larger than life fan following.
 Jodi No. 1 is back now in its
second season with eight new celebrity couples; all popular
faces among Tamil audiences.
The eight couples are Kalaiselvan
Tinku & Preethi, Yugendren & Hayma Malini, Sree & Krithika,
Prithveeraj & Uma Riyaz, Arvind & Lakshmi, Irfan & Monisha,
Venkat & Nisha, Dev & Aishwarya.
 With two dance schools in tow
to train them and a celebrity judges panel, the stage is set.
This year, too, the winning jodi will walk away with a whopping
prize money of Rs 10 lakh. The show will begin on August 3, 2007, and will be on for 13
weeks with reality episodes on Fridays and the studio episodes
on Saturdays peppered with celebrity guests.
A look at the 8 new celebrity couples...
 Kalaiselvan Tinku & Preethi: JN01: Kalaiselvan Tinku, began his
acting career as a child artiste.
He has acted with Kamal Haasan
in 'Japanil Kalyanaraman' and has done many challenging roles in
films and television and is very interested in dancing.
Preethi,
a trained Kuchupudi and classical dancer, has done many
performing roles in leading serials.
 Yugendren & Hayma Malini: JN02: A popular couple, Yugendren, son
of popular playback singer, Malaysia Vasudevan, has sung many
hit songs in films.
Music being his first love, Yugendren is now
all set to showcase his dancing talent on the television screen.
Hayma Malini has hosted many television shows, one of them being
Vijay TV's Jodi No. 1 Challenge.
 Sree & Krithika; JN03: Coming from a musical family, Sree is a
popular actor and is known for his many negative roles. Krithika,
an upcoming artiste, is interested in acting and is all set to
exhibit her talents in dancing. Prithveeraj & Uma Riyaz: JN04: Introduced by K Balachander,
Prithveeraj popularly called, as 'Paplu' is a leading artiste.
He has acted in many films and television is not new to him. Uma
Riyaz, known for her miming talent, has been the face of the 'Kalaka
Povadhu Yaru' series on Vijay TV.
 Arvind & Lakshmi: JN05: A famous model, Arvind has acted in many
films like 'Kadalar Dinam'.
He has also performed some demanding
roles in many serials. His pair, Lakshmi, has also acted in many
films like 'Arindum Ariyamalum' and 'Pattiyal'.
Her role in 'Meendum
Oru Kadhal Kadai' on Vijay TV was well appreciated. Irfan & Monisha: JN06: Irfan and Monisha are already popular as
the stars of 'Kana Kaanum Kaalangal'. Irfan, a model, finds his popularity increasing with his
character Vineeth in 'Kana Kaanum Kaalangal'. His pair Monisha
is also a face on KKK.
 Venkat & Nisha: JN07: This is a real life couple. Venkat is a
skilled hair stylist. He has also acted in many popular serials.
His wife Nisha is a trained classical dancer.
Dev & Aishwarya: JN08: Introduced by Bharathiraja in 'Tajmahal',
Dev has acted in many serials.
His pair Aishwarya, known for her
liveliness and enthusiasm, is not new to television.
