Painting Ambitions Events

Children no more stick on to doctor or engineer as their ambition. They are eager to try their hands in different fields. Harihar Prasad, Avinash and Yasaswi want to be an astronaut, forest officer and underwater diver. They are the winners of Paint your ambition competition organised by Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL).

It was organised to commemorate the launch of HUL’s new product range Amaze Brainfood under the Kissan brand. The contest was held for three categories based on the age groups 6-8, 9-11 and 12-14.

The 3 winners, one from each category were awarded scholarship of Rs 1 lakh each to fulfil their dreams by popular actress Simran.Out of 2300 participation, the best 50 paintings were displayed at the award function held recently.

The paintings were judged by famous cartoonist Madan and S. Bhavanishankar, Principal, Chettinad Vidyashramam.

Madan said that children no longer take part in physical activities and reading books, other than their academics. They simply wile away the time in watching TV. Participation in such competitions is very important rather than prizes, he added.

Bhavanishankar said that participation in the competition makes everybody a winner and stressed on the need of pressing on.

Simran said that she was amazed at the paintings, as they were very beautiful. Painting is a creative job. “According to me, each and every child is a winner”, she added and even questioned the children why nobody wanted to become an actor, as there was no such painting.

Sidharth Singh, Category Head, HUL, said, “The Kissan Amaze Brainfood painting programme was a beautiful platform for children to display their talent and express their ambitions.”

Harihar Prasad of DAV Lloyd School (6-8 years) said that he wanted to become an astronaut as he wanted to go to space. A. Avinash of St. John’s Senior Secondary School, Mandaveli, winner in the 9-11 age group said that he wanted to become a forest officer because he like trees and wanted to make the earth pollution free. However, the winner in the 12-14 years age group, Yasaswi of PSBB, K.K. Nagar wished to become an IT professional and not an underwater diver as she had drawn. She said that she drew the painting as it came out well.

The award for maximum participation was bagged by Kendriya Vidyalaya CLRI, Adyar.

Such competitions are indeed a platform for the children to express their talents and motivate them, who otherwise focus only in their studies.
