Digital Shoppy has expanded its base in
Chennai with two showrooms inaugurated on Septembr 13, 2007.
This makes it the first consumer electronics chain to expand
across over 31 stores in a brief period of five years.
A. Mahesh Raju, managing director, said,
"Digital Shoppy will be a 100-store brand in the next 18 months.
We have been finalising properties all over south India.”
The new stores are at Anna Nagar and Porur,
offering an expansive 15,000 sq ft of state-of-the-art
electronics, gadgets and appliances for the modern consumer. The
company is focused on extending best shopping experience to
customers which has resulted in building a strong, satisfied
customer base.
Digital Shoppy has plans in the major
potential centres throughout south India with expansion into
Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala with 20 outlets each, in
addition to the existing 25 stores in AP and 4 stores in
Bangalore.
IL& FS Investments have backed Digital Shoppy
as a prudent retailer with a Rs 17.50 crore private equity
infusion to strengthen its presence. The imminent success of
Digital Shoppy is inevitably set to ride the consumer
electronics wave and provide a next-gen shopping experience,
said Mahesh Raju.
Digital Shoppy is a consumer electronics and
home appliances retail showroom chain with presence in most
major centres in south India. It helps customers have fun while
they explore electronics in-depth. Specific zones for mobiles,
gaming, digital imaging, office electronics, domestic gadgets
and bargains make the shopping experience quick, lively and
convenient.
The Digital Shoppy brand is owned by
Pratyankara Electronics Pvt Ltd, incorporated in 1999 by A
Mahesh Raju with an objective of retail trade in electronics and
home appliances. Raju, a postgraduate in electronics
engineering, had commenced his career with Philips and then
associated with Sony to have its presence in 1996. He
established Sony World – an exclusive Sony product showroom - in
Hyderabad.
