 The
Vasantha Navarathri will be celebrated grandly for Goddess
Prathiyankara Devi with the Sri Nava Durga Moola Manthra Mangala
Chandi Vishesha Homam everyday from 6.4.2008 to 14.4.2008 at the
Chennai Om Sri Skandasramam.
At the Chennai Om Sri Skandasramam the huge 12-foot panchaloka icon
of Goddess Ugra Prathiyankara faces the Sannadhi of Lord Veera
Sarabeswara which is very rare. Goddess Prathiyankara Devi is
believed to have emerged from the fire emanating from the third eye
of Lord Sarabeswarar. It is said that it was Goddess Prathiyankara
who aided in subsiding the anger of Lord Narasimha after the
Narasimha Avatara. In this Kali yuga, where evil is manifest in
varied forms, Goddess Prathiyankara is regarded as the saviour of
mankind, alleviating the sufferings of humanity.
She possesses the power to offset the influences of black magic.
Though fearsome in appearance, she is the very embodiment of
benevolence and grace to her devotees. The Navadurgas are installed
around this sannadi. Chennai Om Sri Skandasramam according to
Sathguru Shrimath Santhananda Swamigals directions performs the
Prathiyankara Sarabha Soolini Koti Homam daily in strict adherence
to the vedic canons which is a very important activity of the asram.
This Homam is conducted for the welfare of the country and for the
benefit of mankind.
The day starts with the Go puja daily at 7. 15 am
followed by the Homa sankalpam, Sri Ganapathy Homam, Navagraha Homam
and Sri Nava Durga Moola Manthra Mangala Chandi Homam at 9. 00 am.
On all these days Goddess Prathiyankara Devi will be in the 9
different forms of Durga and the Moola Mantra Mangala Chandi homam
will be performed corresponding to the following,
On 6th Sri Vana Durga and Sri Vana Durga
Mangala Chandi Homam
On 7th Sri Sulini Durga and Sri Sulini Durga Mangala Chandi Homam
On 8th Sri Jathaveda Durga and Sri Jathaveda Durga Mangala Chandi
Homam
On 9th Sri Santhi Durga and Sri Santhi Durga Mangala Chandi Homam
On 10th Sri Sabari Durga and Sri Sabari Durga Mangala Chandi Homam
On 11th Sri Jwala Durga and Sri Jwala Durga Mangala Chandi Homam
On 12th Sri Lavana Durga and Sri Lavana Durga Mangala Chandi Homam
On 13th - Sri Deepa Durga and Sri Deepa Durga Mangala Chandi Homam
On 14th Sri Aasuri Durga and Sri Aasuri Durga Mangala Chandi Homam
There will be a special abhishekam to Goddess
Prathiyankara Devi at 10.30 am followed by Deeparadanai and
Annadanam at 12.30 noon. There will be Vishesha Alankarams to
Goddess Prathiyanakara Devi and Purnahudi will be performed at 7. 30
PM followed by Prasad Distribution.
